19th International Workshop of Neonatology and Pediatrics

“From the uterus to ageing, from medical history to artificial intelligence” – from 18 to 21 October 2023 in Cagliari

The organization of the 19th International Workshop on Neonatology and Pediatrics is in its final stages, the prestigious international conference that has been attracting professionals and scholars from all over the world to Cagliari for years. The event, which will take place from 18 to 21 October 2023 at the T Hotel, presents itself as a unique opportunity to probe the evolution of pediatric disciplines and perinatology in a constantly changing world.

With a success story spanning 18 editions, including 16 in presence and 2 online, this workshop has captured the attention of over 11,500 participants from every corner of the planet, making it an international point of reference in the field of pediatrics. The scientific and human ties born of these meetings have inspired and enriched experts in the field, helping to redefine medical practices and broaden treatment perspectives.

Supported by a body of international and national scientific societies, the 19th Workshop is recognized as a prestigious achievement, with the most important specialists coming from over 60 different countries. In these 18 previous editions, the Conference was held under the patronage of the President of the Italian Republic – for six consecutive years – and with the support of UNICEF for four years. In 2021, Prof. Vassilios Fanos, Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Cagliari, Director of the School of Specialization in Pediatrics and of the S.C. of Neonatal Intensive Care of the AOU of Cagliari and organizer of this event, was awarded the title of “Italian Knowledge Leader” by the National Institute of Tourism, Convention Bureau Italy, under the auspices of the Ministry of Tourism, in recognition of his outstanding contribution.

The XIX edition

The leitmotif of this edition “From the uterus to ageing, from medical history to artificial intelligence,” launches a theme that reflects the interconnection between assistance, research and teaching in the near future. The integrated approach with adult medicine , combined with the perspective of perinatal planning, will shape the path of pediatric disciplines.Through discussions and sharing of experiences from all over the world, the workshop aims to cast an enlightening look on the future of perinatology and pediatrics.

The event promises to be even more special thanks to the publication of the proceedings in the renowned “Journal of Pediatric and Neonatal Individualized Medicine” (JPNIM), which enjoys recognition in Scopus and Web of Science. This publication is the official organ of influential organizations, including the European Union of Neonatal Perinatal Societies (UENPS) and the Union of Pediatric Societies of the Middle East and the Mediterranean (UMEMPS).

The program spans a broad range of topics, including rare diseases, perinatology, neonatology, nutrition, epigenetics and microbiota, immunological and allergic diseases, pediatric psychology, and the impact of the environment on pregnancy. The innovative impact of Artificial Intelligence in the medical field will be a focus of discussion, while a special satellite meeting will address the intersection of pediatrics, social media and online research, allowing influential speakers to immediately share findings with parents and children stakeholders.

Intended for neonatologists, paediatricians, obstetricians, perinatologists, psychologists, pathologists, laboratory researchers and all those involved in the care of newborns. The workshop offers the opportunity to join a tradition that aims to discuss current topics and keep abreast of the latest advances in the field of neonatology and pediatrics.

Moreover, this meeting will bring together the Presidents of world-renowned Congresses, including Vassilios Fanos, Osama Al Jamal, Angelica Dessì, and many others, offering a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to explore the future of pediatric medicine through the eyes of international luminaries.
